As some of you know, people with Ashkenazi (Jewish east European decent) have a much higher chance of getting breast and ovarian cancer. There are blood tests to take that can tell if someone has inherited the mutated genes. If a person tests positive they can get cancer screenings more often and be on guard. I am going to get blood tests BRCA 1, BRCA 2, and CA125 done later this month.
Unfortunately my mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer and a masectomy surgery is scheduled. Much of her family has died from cancer. Here is a helpful link about hereditary cancer and what you can do to empower yourself, friends, and loved ones. http://www.facingourrisk.org/index.php Chai, Shalom, Liviya
