Poem: Aliya, by Barzilai Kellajer
Dragging his soul and his unnumbered suitcases and bags through the crowded street, he was trying to find a place to keep them safe while having a shower and a rest to think about what to do next.
At last he came into a shop where they kindly offered to keep them. The shop assistants had no face and its shop windows had nothing to sell but it was a shop and he felt deeply thankful for their help.
Unburdened and relieved he left the shop and went into the next hotel. Going across the lobby, he saw a couple of young ladies sitting on a sofa and concentrated on something in their hands.
One of them had fair hair and one could see part of her upper thighs.
When he got to the public showers, it was a chaos. Under the showers there were to be seen dozens and dozens of men and women having together a shower ar the same time. All of them had their intimacy covered with loincloths and the whole looked like an irreal nightmare.
He looked desperately for a private shower and he could find one at last.
It was a very pleasant feeling when the water rushed down his body.
But suddenly, everybody there desappeared and silence was heard. There was nobody to be seen outside his own shower. He peeped over the low door but nobody could be seen and the twilight had invaded the room.
Only his own shower had a clear light. Then, he saw the blonde lady that had been sitting in the hotel's lobby coming to him. She was completely naked and opened without hesitating, his showers' door. He looked at her and realized of his beautiful face but also of her body that was not human. Anyway, he kissed her and all of a sudden, she desappeared, too.
He got quicky dressed and left the showers room. He went into the shop and thanked the invisible people there for having kept their luggage.
Again dragging his soul and suitcases through the crowded street. Tired of that life, he decided to go up a slope street to keep far from the world.
A man was there, at the side of the road, washing his car.
.- Hi, Sir ! Could you please take me to the airport? - he asked the man-I must fly to Israel and I am about to miss the plane....
.- of course! - said the man with an open smile- while rubbing his hands with each other.
.- Not at all ! -shouted his wife- who appeared like a specter from behind the house.
And the trees on the sides of the road remained silent and dark.
